Well, this creeped me out, though I can't believe I hadn't noticed it before. Emailing with a friend & a time was mentioned. At the top of the email, Siri said event detected, asked if I wanted to add the time to my calendar. Um, I thought I had turned off Siri. Looked in preferences, and, I did, indeed have all the things toggled off, but there is another page for privacy. I had to go through a bunch of apps, one by one, to get my expected behaviour. There should be one switch.
