Looking to try to get into Mastadon again. Let's time I tried I was met with harsh and cynical replies to my comments by people with extreme views, maybe that's the norm of social media without catered algorithms these days. We will see.

@trinsec No doubt and there are a lot of people discovering it for the first time. I've been very frustrated by sponsored posts out numbering the ones I follow by 3:1. I imagine I'm not alone.

@Zerglingman @users I'm interested to see how this will go. There is a clear divide between, 'I question this policy' and 'these people are inferior and don't deserve due process or human rights.'

There is also a large grey area in between and a balance to be found. Knowing people who have faced traumatic experiences, some method of proper trigger warning filtering could help a lot, and we will see if such a mechanism evolves.

The local server system might allow that line to be drawn at different levels for different groups. We will see.

Looking forward to learning more about this platform and how it might replace Twitter or even Facebook.

@users I'm glad there are servers accepting new users when so many are looking for an alternative to Twitter. Also glad to be part of a group that both honors free speech and it's against hate speech. Looking forward to leaning more about this platform.
