Mastodon tip for Android users: 

If you use #Tusky (and you should try it if you haven't already—many prefer it over the official app) you can add custom tabs with saved hashtag searches.

This is useful for following certain topics without having them in your home feed.

For example you could set up a tab for #introduction and #introductions to see new joiners and say hi or follow those you find interesting.

To set up, go to "account preferences" --> "tabs"

@DavidDvorkin yes, you can follow hashtags but that isn't quite the same as they're mixed in with everything else.

@joelodge I had read that it was possible, but it isn't showing up on my Web interface. Perhaps it depends on the instance. Separating each one into its own tab would be extra nice.
