When I was a boy, I watched all kinds of science fiction the science in which would make me cringe now. (Not to mention writing, acting, special effects ... ) Bad science alone pulls me out of the story and annoys me now. But I sure did enjoy sf on the screen a lot more then. I miss that boyish purity of escape.

@DavidDvorkin I was thinking about that recently. I'd guess our standards were quite different due to the combination of age and the novelty of what we were seeing.

@vjack I didn't have the knowledge to see the bad science then, but even if I had, I think I would have enjoyed the stuff anyway. I wanted and needed it so much, and I was so open to the wonder of it all, that I could overlook just about anything.

@DavidDvorkin And sometimes it is just damn entertaining, bad science or not.

@vjack If it's entertaining enough, I can ignore a lot of bad science. It's just that it's harder to ignore it now and enjoy the show than it was when I was young.
