New Jersey Town Bills Teenage BLM Protest Organizer $2,500 For Police Overtime
"The town says she was supposed to submit advanced proper notification about the event, but failed to."
When are city councils going to send bills to all the rioters burning and looting everyones property, it also costing lot's in policing and other government services. They usually do already if you mess up something. Do tax payers always have to foot those bills? Where does it end?
@MartinJJ
The first amendment says people have a right to assemble. It doesn't say "right to assemble if you give advanced warning and approval from the city."
@MartinJJ
People don't have a right to peace and quiet, but they do have a right to express speech freely.
Rioting and property damage isn't okay and deserves massive pushback.
BTW, problematic is a weasel word. You might try to be more explicit so that discussions can stay focused and productive.

@Demosthenes Well, now I'm kindda done discussing. Just tell us what street you live in and we'll send a bunch of free speech there for a month or so about something you totally disagree with. Day and night. Let's find out how you still appreciate it then. Maybe a dose of reality ends your armchair theoretical arguments.
@MartinJJ
okay. If you feel like continuing the conversation, feel free to DM or @ me.
@Demosthenes Does that justify other people mess up your local business, peace and quiet or safety just because they disagree with something? Free speech for those who claim it, but not for the residents who disagree? A nice example is the recent "Seattle zone", but even a one day protest could be just as problematic.
