I worked with people with autism for nearly 20 years - and by “people with autism”, I mean right across the spectrum, from people who were completely non verbal and who required 24 hour care/attention, to people who you could talk to, without knowing anything about autism, for a couple of hours and only get a slight sense that there was anything different going on.
I’ve wrestled with how to articulate my thoughts on this, but there’s something about the overlap between autism and trans issues that is deeply worrying, and which kind of goes some way to explaining why so many well meaning people enable it

People nowadays are so focused on the mentality of "if it doesn't hurt anyone else then it should be allowed and supported!" This while ignoring the long-term impact that such reinforcement has on the individual, their social status, and overall wellbeing.
