Newsom announced we're going back to lockdown from around June. Not full closure like in day 1, but a step in the right direction...
Except for the fact that several cities had their police chiefs come out and declare they would refuse to enforce the new lockdown orders.
We're so fucked. I held out tiny hope that Biden would take office and drop sweeping nation-wide lockdowns until the vaccine finished testing phases. Not only is he not likely to, but by now no one is gonna enforce it.
@trysdyn nationwide lockdowns don't make sense. The goal with it all wasn't to get rid of the virus, but to lower the curve so the hospitals don't get overrun.
@Demosthenes It makes sense because our hospitals ARE overrun. OK, UT, and several other states are declaring they're almost out of bed-space state wide. We're in the middle of a case spike we need to flatten again. Nationwide.
That spike is going to get worse through the holiday seasons as people fuck off and travel anyway. January is going to be bad. We're gonna need massive preventative measures. Biden is going to need to spearhead them.
I never said it'd magically "get rid of the virus", which is why I added the qualifier "until the vaccine finishes testing".
calipol, covid, tired of this s**t -
