So far, I've been unsuccessful with making a bootable windows 10 USB thumbdrive. My windows killed itself with an automatic update and now it blue screens on boot. Trying to repair it. Would love to know why dd doesnt work for this...

@Diptchip iirc windows doesn't like to be installed via dd but I could be wrong- it's been a long time since I've touched windows.

@lucifargundam
Funny thing is, I DDed the hard drive to a zip before first boot and DDed it to a bigger SSD, and it booted just fine. I'm trying to use the "repair windows" option from the ISO provided by microsoft. For some reason DD doesn't work for the ISO. It's common knowledge, but I really wanna know exactly why it doesn't work. Would also like any advice on making a bootable USB that has the installer/repair tool.
