Literally no Democrat cares if Hunter Biden is prosecuted if he committed crimes. He's not elected—we're not a cult.

We just call it *absurd* that MAGAs—who let Kushner & Ivanka make $640M while "government employees" and get $2B after leaving the White House, under wildly suspicious means from a murderous dictator—now pretend to care about alleged Biden nepotism.

We see your shameless, dangerous hypocrisy.

So wait... the standard-bearer of the Republican Party has called for the "termination" of the Constitution, but it's progressives who don't believe in the rule of law?

Live stream of Mauna Loa erupting!
Mesmerizing, beautiful, hot & bothered…

“Deep in the big black heart of the lone star state…”
What we’re up against in our struggle for a sane, just livable future. Powerful corporate forces determined to wring every last nickel out of the oil fields as they continue to wreck our world.

The best of times and the worst of times.
The war and climate disruptions are producing what may be “the largest global food crisis in modern history.”

And yet look how wonderfully encouraging are the long term trends, as seen in the figures below (from Max Roser’s site Our World in Data ourworldindata.org/)

#MaunaLoa Telescope update!

The ATLAS units have been shut down finally and people have left. The picture below was taken by one of those folks.

The power is out, it's possible the power lines were taken out by lava. It will be a while before people can go back and check on material.

Until then ATLAS still has 3 units across the globe to detect any potentially dangerous asteroids that could hit earth!

So we stay safe from the sky whilst we admire the power of mother Earth 🙏 🌋

Certain belief in the nonexistence of free will (because our current physics “proves” this) is similar to certain belief in the existence of an omnipotent god. Both remove human agency and responsibility, for reasons of preference of a worldview.

There's A LOT of discussion about content moderation right now and very little of it touches on the fact that we've all lived on the big social sites for the last decade-plus thanks to the massively exploitated labor of mostly-invisible moderation workers. The social web at scale wouldn't have happened without these laborers, who in addition to shit wages, have been exposed to literally every imaginable horror.

If we're remaking this world, let's do better on that front.

Hey journalists! Mastodon is not a “platform”. Platforms were invented in the wake of the last financial crisis to consolidate power among specific companies by mining people of of their personal data for profit online. Mastodon does not consolidate, only connects. It does not amplify algorithmically, or mine people. Any “learning curve” should include reflection on why you ever accepted “services” aimed at data extraction as “natural” or even “social” to begin with. #twittermigration

Sure many of us have complicated feelings about Artemis, as partially documented here:

But damn these photos of Earth, Moon & nouveau-Apollo looking artifacts are striking, moving, beautiful, just so cool…

Oh this is sick:
"But the people who worked on the stadiums, highways and hotels did so under temperatures that reached beyond 50 degrees Celsius, or 122 Fahrenheit. Hundreds, maybe thousands, are reported to have died from the heat."
