Ok, since I’m new here @stuartcantrill suggested I should give you a brief .

I am Canadian! In fact French-Canadian (not a Quebecer). I studied at the University of Ottawa for both undergrad and PhD with Keith Fagnou. Many of my closest chemistry friends are from the .

I joined in 2007 in Montreal and then NJ. I now lead a group of chemists and engineers in the Process R&D space

I’m also passionate about developing talent and establishing a creative and fulfilling work environment for my team. Recently my long time colleague Becky Ruck and I wrote about the transformation of Merck Process in that regard in the 65th anniversary special issue of Tetrahedron.

I tweet about science, and or .

I love bubbly wine and fancy food. Since I don’t run reactions in the lab anymore, I do them in my kitchen trying new techniques and recipies.

This is your friendly reminder that your organization has values… even if you never wrote them down or communicated them…

You don’t have to have everything figured out. That mindset is a trap that can restrict you to think “small”. Being resilient and resourceful can overcome some gaps in subject matter expertise!

Related to this, I have been asking people that request Zoom with me to “catch up” to send me a summary over email of what they want to talk about first. That way I can see if we need a meeting or if we can resolve over email. Most have responded OK but I got a couple angry people that were straight offended I didn’t take the meeting (and said so explicitly).

One’s time is not anybody else’s. I have no obligation to take anybody’s call requests. Takes energy but have to do it.

Remembrance Day will always have a double meaning for me. It’s the day I lost my friend and PhD advisor Keith Fagnou. I miss you buddy…
