@brianbilston Very good 👏
A have a memory of reading a #scifi book once in which the letters of the alphabet decided they'd been abused for too long and started walking off the books, leaving increasingly blank spaces on the pages. I cannot remember the title or the author - maybe somebody knows?

One of the reasons I started writing a blog was to address my deep dissatisfaction with the way Africa is studied or talked about outside the continent, especially. This is mostly marked by absence. But when it is not, most interlocutors ignore the impact of external interference.

May have made the cat square-eyed.
I put cat tv on for him one day last week and now he comes in and *looks* at us until we put the birds/fish/mice etc., on.

UPDATES
There’s been a small but positive change Mia has started to regain some energy and is a bit more alert than before.
However, its condition is still serious. It remains weak and is under close care with ongoing treatment needed. But recovery will take time.
We are truly grateful to everyone who has donated and supported this rescue. We kindly ask for your continued support to help cover treatment and give this cat the best chance at recovery.

For #WhiskersWednesday I'm bringing you a special treat -- the time Tabitha stuffed her large body into an Easter basket. She'd been eyeing it all day and finally got in there, making me very happy.

PhD in Cell Biology
I am a Research Scientist and lab manager for the Tootle lab in the Biology department at the University of Iowa. We use Drosophila oogenesis to understand the mechanisms regulating prostaglandin production and function. My particular interest is the developmental roles of lipid droplets and their connection to prostaglandins.
I love biology and teaching people about what is happening in cells. I also am really interested in microscopy.
I also like cats, horses and horseback riding, fish keeping (I have two aquariums), video games-particularly the Half-Life franchise and Half Life mods, and I have recently gotten into VR (NOT META!) so if you want to chat about any of these topics that would be great!
