We've expanded our 'genetic toolkit' with the addition of the Genetic Product Class, describing the nature of an encoded product (e.g., wild_type, missense_mutation, RNAi_reagent). This information lives in the Transgenic Constructs table on Gene Reports, and will help you identify particular types of transgenes and build a genetic ‘toolkit’ to study your favorite gene. See this commentary for more info: http://flybase.org/commentaries/2024_02/transgenicProductClass.html
I'm a staff scientist at Washington U in St Louis (#Missouri, USA), mostly working with human task fMRI datasets. I'm a big fan of #baseR, #knitr, #QC, and very extensive #supplementary materials. I insist on looking at data early and often; some #tutorials and examples on my blog. (#GotBrains?)
I'm a #FirstGen college grad, #IowaStateU; BS in #forestry. I do #knitting (plus #crochet, #sewing, etc.), not just knitr-ing. I haven't before posted cat pictures, but no guarantees.

Tomorrow we are helping a postdoc with interview preparation.
It's been many years since I was on the uncomfortable side of a job interview.
All the advice on interviews I can find online is obvious or terrible, or both.
Has anyone got any good thoughts for implementable interview tactics which a) might genuinely help and b) can be contained in a reply to this post?

"Metastatic cancers (those that have spread beyond the organ where they originated) account for around 67–90% of cancer deaths2,3, and are almost always treated systemically, meaning with drugs that enter the bloodstream. To improve treatments for people with metastatic cancer, the community urgently needs to shift from using organ-based classifications of cancer to using molecular-based ones. This will require radical changes in how medical oncology is structured, conducted and taught."

PhD in Cell Biology
Currently a Postdoc in Anatomy and Cell Biology at the University of Iowa
I love biology and teaching people about what is happening in cells. I also am really interested in microscopy.
I also like cats, horses and horseback riding, fish keeping (I have two aquariums), video games-particularly the Half-Life franchise and Half Life mods, and I have recently gotten into VR (NOT META!) so if you want to chat about any of these topics that would be great!
