Lessee how annoying my cat is going be. He's not allowed outside today and tomorrow.

I never take risks during new year's eve, there are a bit too many morons around with illegal fireworks.

@trinsec definitely agree! If Binx was an outdoor cat, he'd be kept inside too! The cars in my neighborhood go too fast, and there's also coyotes

@Elvindmt Heya! Welcome to the Fediverse! ;)

You mention only Binx, what about Zeus? Unless I've missed some news, I hope not!

If the cars here would go too fast, Suske would be permanently inside. But I've always lived in reasonably quiet neighbourhoods, specifically because of cats!

@trinsec Thanks for the welcome!

Zeus had a heart problem since birth (HCM) and was on medication to prolong his life. Almost three years ago, he developed a saddle thrombosis and a few hours later he needed to be put to sleep.

Since then, we have gotten two cats: Binx was about 2 years old when we adopted him and Babish was a kitten (and an obnoxious kitten at that). Binx loves to go outside but he's allowed only on a leash. Babish is absolutely terrified of the outside though.

My neighborhood has a fairly low speed limit - residential is 25mph here - but there are people who do double.

What have you been up to?

@Elvindmt Aw :( I might've read about that before but it didn't stick. Zeus is still very much in my mind as a gorgeous kitty with a beautiful pattern. And he was your first kitty, wasn't he?

I do remember the introduction of Binx from FB images, including the cone of shame lol. Not sure if that was after Zeus? Or did Binx meet Zeus? I've not really been paying attention at FB very well and I get spammed there by unimportant posts so chances are likely I missed a lot of stuff. I dislike FB's timeline... it seems to favor meme-posters. :P

Suske got a heart problem as well, we don't know since when. Whenever a medical procedure needs to be done, at least they know they have to use special narcose on him. Just like a few weeks ago when his teeth needed cleaning bigtime. He's doing fine now, but was kinda out of it for over a week.
I hope to have him for at least a half decade still. My little boy is now over 11 years old. According to the chart at the vet, he's basically 61 human years old. He still gets his daily cuddles, sometimes even against his will. ;)

And what I've been up to.. I'm still a tech volunteer at this school. It's been slow lately thanks to corona, but I'm still helping out there. We're now on a forced work-from-home thing. We can still go to our job location if we need to, but other than that.. Staying home it is. At the very least until 19 january, then we'll see if schools reopen.

So at home... gaming, netflix, and social media mostly. Roguelikes and card battlers are the games that draw me in the most. I'm still pretty lazy much to my chagrin since there's plenty of interesting stuff that could be done. :P

I've not been MUSHing anymore for years, but could still code up stuff I'm sure. It's like riding a bicycle, you'll never forget. Just no reason to be on a MUSH anymore.

Lessee if I remember you well enough. :P I know you're married and you have a whole animal household now including a dog. And you absolutely love good food (and drinks). And you're probably still a huge geek like the rest of us.

Anything else I missed? ;)

Oh yeah.

Happy new year! ;)

@trinsec He was my first kitty. I wish they got to meet each other! They would've gotten along so well - they both just want to be friends with everything.

Facebook's been pretty awful with all of the ads and suggestions. Annoying that they got rid of the chronological timeline option.

I wonder if Suske's heart condition is similar but to a thankfully to a FAR lesser extent? Zeus only really expected to live 2, 3 years at most, but made it to almost 5. Binx's teeth are beautiful but Babish needs some help.

The US has been really awful with COVID. We did have that lockdown back in April/May. Most of the engineers at work were furloughed and came back late July. We're working on building a new plant next door so I've been swamped with that since they came back. Mid-May, we chemists worked from home a bit. But other than that, have been extra careful and keeping away from people even moreso than usual.

Same at home! I was pretty solid into Final Fantasy XIV (MMORPG) but have shifted a little bit to Star Trek Online. Playable Cardies! Same with MUSHing. Almost all of the coding I do now is Excel.

Yup, remembered me well enough! :)

Happy New Year to you too! :D

@Elvindmt I've sent you a direct message. Not sure if you'd get notification in the interface, hence this little response just in case you missed it.
