@EubieDrew l left academia almost 30 years ago (before I finished my PhD) and *still* find that the skills I honed there are incredibly useful and very sought after. Your points about taking care of yourself first are not learned globally in industry, though. It took me the good part of my career in consulting to learn to stand up for myself, so your tips are good for all to learn...
