I think at this point the Republican party has to be hoping for an indictment. A Trump-as-victim narrative seems like their only hope for victory in 2024. Anything else is going to split the party, no?
I imagine many of them are holding their collective breaths right now, particularly since he is just a few provocations away from turning on his own party.
@kims @Teri_Kanefield I think the last election proved that Trump-as-victim isn't even working for him anymore. Between that and 8 million new GenZ voters by 2024, I think the GOP has painted itself into a demographic corner.
I also think the MAGA set has lost its appetite for actual armed insurrection, so his goon squad fallback isn't gonna happen either.
