@pony You are right. To stress the obvious is almost always a sign of some insecurity. Like in "computer _science_" where we are just not sure whether it is a real _science_ so we better prevent that discussion from happening by naming the thing "properly". 😄
@pony Although in this case, what could have been the insecurity about?
Maybe like this:
A: what's that hole there?
B: an underpass, can't you see?
A: let's be explicit about it
Or more like this:
A: there's some empty space above that hole in the wall
B: we should put something there. Like lights or so.
A: Good idea. So what shall we write there?
B: Dunno. How about some filler. Like "UNDERPASS"
