The verified tick is something anyone who wants can have; its simply an amoji code (any emoji is acceptable) added at the end of your user name in Settings.

That one is named verified. enclose the word in ":" colon marks, no spaces, and you get

Warning, this is seen in a somewhat unflattering way in the fediverse; many people think it brings the hint of celeb culture from the big networks.

I used the unverified emoji tag for a couple days instead and soon removed it.

But you are free to use it if you like, or any other supported emoji.
