I just finished this book, which is a thorough telling of Alaska’s history and issues, that I picked up while in Juneau last fall. It is thick, but easy to read and full of fascinating details and the nuance that a hundreds-year old history has.

If every state had a tome like this devoted to their history, the nation would be better for it.

@ingalls Just viewing the title: Does it really begin withl "from Russian fur traders?" That may be the start of a lot of issues, but far from the beginnings of human history.

@Gaythia It actually starts with geology and the native inhabitants. Not sure why they didn’t make the cover.
