But that emptiness was not always how Ireland was.

From the Cental Statistics Office:

“As of Census night on 03 April [2022], the preliminary population count of Ireland in 2022 is 5.1 million – an increase of 7.6% from Census 2016 and the largest population recorded in a Census since 1841.”

While the rest of the world spent the 20th Century with their population exploding, Ireland’s plunged after 1841 and is only now beginning to recover.
