@Davidtoddmccarty I’m only an EMT so this is way outside my scope of practice but I’m given to understand that once someone’s intubated it tends to be a kind of a process to get extubated. If a doctor could expand on this I’d be interested to hear what they have to say

It's the damndest thing...
When I was growing up, they made me say a pledge every day that said "liberty and justice for all."
They taught me "the golden rule."
They sent me to church to learn about a guy who said we should help the poor and the sick, we should show love to each other.
They told me that "but everyone else is doing it" wasn't an excuse for my own bad behavior.
And now when I advocate for the things that they taught me, they call me a socialist or a communist.

@DataDrivenMD I’m not sure what the requirements are but here (northern NJ in the US) it feels like at least my most local towers have a couple of hours of battery backup and then go dark. I have seen other sites with generator backup.

But that emptiness was not always how Ireland was.
From the Cental Statistics Office:
“As of Census night on 03 April [2022], the preliminary population count of Ireland in 2022 is 5.1 million – an increase of 7.6% from Census 2016 and the largest population recorded in a Census since 1841.”
While the rest of the world spent the 20th Century with their population exploding, Ireland’s plunged after 1841 and is only now beginning to recover.
