NEW: Two months ago, I wrote a story on suicidal Yale students being pressured to withdraw. Tonight, Yale announced sweeping changes that allow students in crisis to take leaves of absence, keep insurance & receive help https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2023/01/18/yale-mental-health-policies-change/

It could literally bankrupt small shops like these.

@futurebird Took the math behind computer science to teach me that there are completely reasonable questions whose answer cannot be computed. Uncomputable problems. Now I run into it all the time and most people won't believe me.
@futurebird
Everything at the intersection of math on pieces of paper, and physics in the real world, where the math makes no damn sense, but you try it in the real world and what happens is the nonsense thing that the math predicted.
E.g. Fast Fourier Transforms, especially for image restoration.
My brain went from "BS! You just made that up!" To "OK, you're a witch! Repent!" To "OK, now I'm a witch too?! How am I doing this? I should not be able to do this!"
I love watercolor art. What do you think? For more of this style: like...

I have to reject any fixed notion of the nature of femininity. You don't have to fear spiders to be be a woman!

White friends: Reflect
"I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or KKK, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice. Shallow understanding from people of goodwill is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will." #MLK
When you have the clamps, why not use them?
This dovetail case needed a bit of convincing that it's "hip to be square"

Drawing horses is hard. Drawing horses with a laptop trackpad is harder still.
(Drawn just now, with absolutely zero reference!)
I remember seeing Iain Banks talking at a convention some years back. He described his process as six months of very hard thinking followed by six months of frantic writing. But those months of hard thinking were every bit as much a part of writing a book as the actual composition. Sometimes, "writing" has nothing to do with putting words on a page. Sometimes, a long walk on a blustery beach achieves more than a whole day spent staring at a blank sheet of paper.

@Lockdownyourlife Very sorry for your loss. He looks like a great boy
Most US folk don't know about COINTELPRO, the FBI program that targeted Black civil rights leaders for false arrest, and yes, assassination. US folks don't know this, because it's not taught in schools. But Black kids know about COINTELPRO.
Most US folk don't know what a "Black Identity Extremist" is. Again, not taught in schools. If you joined a George Floyd BLM protest, there's a good chance you were investigated as a Black Identity Extremist. Again by the FBI. Black kids know this.
I used to write short stories and poems, but somewhere along the line I became afraid to share and eventually just … stopped writing.
But life is too short to live inauthentically.
Yesterday, in a travel-weary state of mind, I challenged myself to write something, anything. Because I’ve been reconnecting with my love of poetry, that’s where I went.
And today I’m taking the plunge. I’m sharing what I wrote before my inner critic has time to build up a persuasive case to stay quiet.

Disabled?Too strong of a word.
Disabled?Naw.Not me.

Serenity.
Black and white photography emphasizes silence, loneliness, depth.
There is nothing superfluous here.
Just look at this photo.
