==

Witnesses in the various criminal cases against the former president have gotten pay raises, new jobs and more.

If any benefits were intended to influence testimony, that could be a crime.

Hello people of the US, Germany here.

We have a bit of experience with a convicted felon and radical right-wing extremist becoming leader of our country.

Our advice: Don't do it.

Monster episode this week!
Besides talking with Ford's VP of Global EV programs about F-150 lightning, we'll be talking about driving the 2024 Mustang Mach-E GT and Mach-E Rally (!!!), driving Tesla Model 3 Performance, driving the Chevy Equinox EV. All that, and the reveals of the Cadillac Optiq and Jeep Wagoneer S! youtu.be/ZRGXYKYxEIM

This week, the Wall Street Journal opinion section published an op-ed about our #tax coverage.

We don't typically comment on our newsgathering process, but this opinion essay has factual errors in the headline and in the essay that should be corrected.

We've submitted this to their editors:

What a story: A former sheriff from Florida has received political asylum in Moscow, and is now a key player in Russia's disinformation operations against the West, the NYT reports.

"Working from an apartment crowded with servers and other computer equipment, Mr. Dougan has built an ever-growing network of more than 160 fake websites that mimic news outlets in the United States, Britain and France."

Just published the second-longest blog post in my 14 year career as an independent reporter.

This story is the result of a ridiculous amount of research. I hope you like it, because I learned tons reporting this, and there needs to be a broader conversation about some of the issues raised by this research. The lede:

Two weeks before Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, a large, mysterious new Internet hosting firm called Stark Industries Solutions materialized and quickly became the epicenter of massive distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks on government and commercial targets in Ukraine and Europe. An investigation into Stark Industries reveals it is being used as a global proxy network that conceals the true source of cyberattacks and disinformation campaigns against enemies of Russia.

I tried this last year and it didn't happen but it's worth another shot! My 2y/o son (US, WV/OH) is waiting for a kidney transplant. We've known since he was born that Ripley would need a #KidneyTransplant once he was big enough but every donor, include myself, has been knocked out of consideration. We've come *so* close to finding a donor but it has not happened yet. If you or someone you know would have any interest in being screened, you can visit ripley.love/donate

Boosts appreciated!

Sorry to say, archive.org is under a ddos attack. The data is not affected, but most services are unavailable.

We are working on it & will post updates in comments.

My Android phone has now joined Google's new "Find My Device" #Bluetooth tracking network. So far, so good.

After reading security.googleblog.com/2024/0 it looks like the fundamentals are more or less the same as with AirTags: trackers broadcast a public key, devices pick up the broadcast and use it to encrypt a location report, and the owner can decrypt it again with the private key.

No details, though: anyone knows more about e.g. key format, BT parameters etc.?

Please boost!

A DDOS against the Internet Archive has commenced again, timed for maximum pain for the California staff to deal with. (I don't sleep, but I also can't do anything on the infrastructure here.)

So, we're down until people wake up to deal with the constant DOOS against us because... reasons

I’m just gonna say it — this “Genocide Joe” thing is the dumbest fucking liberal shit I have seen in years.

Joe Biden can do more to *try* to rein in Israel, but Biden doesn’t run Israel. He isn’t CIC for IDF. He isn’t deciding what hospital to bomb. He isn’t deciding what border crossings to close.

You know who is pushing the Genocide Joe narrative? The fucking Russians and the Israelis. Why is that? Well, it’s an election year, and Trump is a hard right, pro-Israel puppet.

Poll: Which clone of RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise #Linux) are you using? Please boost for reach. TIA.

Good Lord. The Washington Post blew this, choosing not to report on the Alitos' (plural) flag at the time, dredging it up now, masking the failure amid background paragraphs. Democracy dies in terrible, irresponsible, credulous, complicit news judgment. Shame.

Wife of Justice Alito called upside-down flag ‘signal of distress’ wapo.st/4dS1BCf

It boggles my mind that the Washington Post knew about the insurrectionist flag at the residence of a Supreme Court "Justice" at the time it was flown -- but didn't tell the public what it knew until years later, the NY Times did report it.

Journalistic malpractice is putting it mildly.
