Higher social media use is related to higher levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) - a biological marker of chronic inflammation - end to somatic symptoms like headaches, chest and back pains, and more frequent visits to doctors and health centers for the treatment of illness.

@Gert makes for an interesting chicken/egg question. Do those with health issues/greater inflammation gravitate to social media to assuage loneliness? or does sitting in front of a computer and not getting enough movement in one's life increase inflammation. My best guess is a bit of both is going on.
