According to this study published in Current Biology, very-low frequency (VLF) speakers pumping out deep bass makes people dance harder and the scientists behind the study don’t know why.

I totally believe the results. I built myself a sound system that controls the speakers down to DC (like a servo amplifier), and the excitement I feel from the music is vastly increased. Even though the source recording probably has no real information at the lowest frequencies.

There is also an eerie improvement in spatial realism at all frequencies when the DC switch is on. Sadly, modern re-releases of old recordings, even when they claim 24/96 resolution, seem to have lost the spatial integrity that gave life to the originals.
