The new FL Higher Ed Bill has a lot of bad things, but the one that will end Florida's Universities is the bit that puts faculty hiring in the hands of state political appointees instead of academic departments.
This is how you replace internationally renowned scientists with dipshit nephews of GOP donors with no expertise or qualifications. Eventually there's no one left that can keep a research program going.
