@GardenOfEden My (admittedly unprofessional) understanding is that this is even more serious. Ireland is birdsite's legal gateway country to the EU. By complying with Irish law, birdsite can operate in the whole EU. If Ireland removes this protection, birdsite is suddenly subject to EVERY regulation in EVERY EU country in which it operates. Including some countries that are much stricter than Ireland. The fines could be devastating.

@EvilWriter @GardenOfEden@mstdn.social , I think the French started legal proceedings a couple weeks ago. The EU isn't waiting for any one case to be resolved. I suspect the bird will find it's range severely limited.
