Although it may not be apparent to a driver, few businesses or human activities can succeed in areas close to the noise, traffic, and pollution of large highways. Planners should be working on urban #highwayremoval, not expansions.

@urbandata @Urban_Dispatch , I agree with this, but I feel that tying the removal to costs like fuel, relocation, etc are a better way to remove them. Right now, there is economic incentive for many of these abominations, and to remove one means to just move it to a different location. We need to remove them as they phase out, and not in some form of NIMBY relocation of the problem. Louisville tried this a few years ago, and although I HATE the freeway along the river, tearing it down would have been a horror show for people living near alternative routes.
