@Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social , that's just it, they weren't on any payroll. They were just there apparently for day care issues. There are many other cases where McDonalds has hired children, and worked them illegally. This just looks like kids at work, potentially helping dad by fetching buns or something, NOT working. My mother used to take me to work too, as a 10 year old. Ya, I 'helped', but mostly I was just there and didn't have any duties.

@JonKramer @Radical_EgoCom

No. One of the ten year olds was using the deep fryer. They both worked the drive through window. It wasn't the Manager's kids just helping out their dad by handing him a bag of buns

The owner of the business (the one being fined) told the press the ten year olds were kids of one of the staff members "visiting their parent" at work. That's not a reliable source.

FURTHERMORE, the ten year olds are just the headline. The investigation found 242 children aged 14-15 working illegally at three franchise owners' restaurants.

Please don't excuse or diminish child labor.

@CorvidCrone @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social the 242 other children are the story. The article I read didn't say the kids were cooking food, but were in the kitchen where food was being cooked. That is a not so subtle difference. I doubt we know all the details, but I will say that the average child laborer is not 10 (unless it's on the family farm) as many have tried to push as the story.

@CorvidCrone @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social my gods you have a foul confrontational demeanor. You may be happier addressing someone else, or on twitter.

@CorvidCrone @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social and, if I ever attempt to excuse or diminish child labor, I will remember your advice.

I won't remember your advice.
