@JohnShirley2023 @trammel@mastodon.online @sbdivya do you feel stating your values is immoral?
@JohnShirley2023 @trammel@mastodon.online @sbdivya Is acting out of vanity immoral, in your opinion? If not, why bring it up at all? If it is, how?
@JonKramer @trammel @sbdivya Not everything has to be 'immoral' to be worth discussion. I bring it up because you're inherently slandering the awards, the nominated, and the entire convention.
@JohnShirley2023 @trammel@mastodon.online @sbdivya I haven't slandered anything. I am not the Hugo nominee. I highly doubt anyone has slandered anyone or anything but China, and I can understand that point of view. Most governments are worthy of a bit of slander.
@JonKramer @trammel @sbdivya
You did nothing immoral. I am asserting you're unconsciously acting out of vanity, drawing attention to yourself by exaggerating the political significance of withdrawing from Hugo consideration, while at the same time inherently slandering the Hugo, the voters for the Hugo, and the World Science Fiction convention. But immoral isn't the word.
