@randahl DoD needs override capability on Starlink decisions
@joyographic @randahl I don't think the government should have that power, ever. Imagine tre45on having the power to shut off CNN if he wanted too.
@JonKramer @randahl Imagine a rogue billionaire having that power...
@joyographic @randahl , wasn't that what I just said?
@joyographic @randahl without a firm answer to that question, I am not going to support either of them.
But, just looking at the products they have produced, and the health of their companies, I am going to lean toward the guy who builds solar roofs. And assume turning over power to a guy who bankrupts casinos is a really bad idea.
Government should not have this power either.
@joyographic @randahl , it isn't just a a single guy... it's the entire system that allows a guy like trump to exist. I trust government LESS than I trust musk, and I don't think Musk is fit to shine my shoes. And possibly the LEAST trustworthy part of government is the DOD. Although the NSA seems to be ready to step up and fight for that unique honor...
@JonKramer @randahl I'd agree that there needs to be systemic change so that people like Trump and Musk can't wield such power.
@joyographic @randahl And I think we have reached agreement.
@JonKramer @randahl If Trump takes power again, control of Starlink will only be one relatively small part of our worries. Foreign policy is the province of government - and it appears that Musk has violated the Logan Act.
For civilian purposes Starlink can be operated by a private company, though I would prefer one run by someone who is not apparently mentally unstable.
