The Florida GOP is just comically fascist.
This is really interesting. I've been messing with Chat-GPT, asking it somewhat detailed scientific questions. It pretty much always makes errors. However, it will accept corrections after verifying they are true and, if you give it the same prompt, will remake the response without making the same mistake (generally making other mistakes instead).
But, it will forget the corrections as soon as the conversation ends.
Jimmy Carter's most important legacy is probably his least well known. Before Carter, 3.6 million people per year were infected by Guinea Worm, a neglected tropical disease. Today, that's down to *13* cases per year, a reduction of 99.99%. And it throws his post-presidency into stark relief from Trump's who is golfing and ranting on social media while trying to get richer. https://brianklaas.substack.com/p/jimmy-carters-hidden-legacy

Rupert Murdoch gave Trump son-in-law/aide Jared Kushner access to "Fox confidential information about Biden's ads," apparently showing them to him before they were public.
Bret Stephens once called global warming "mass hysteria" and claimed climate science had been "discredited."
Please don't believe a single word he writes about #COVID-19.

Tate Reeves was lieutenant governor in 2016-2019, when the MS Department of Human Services and others diverted more than $77 million in TANF funds away from the poor and toward wealthy individuals and their causes, like Brett Favre.
Presley called Reeves “a man with zero conviction” who “looks out for himself and his rich friends instead of the people who put him into office.”

For all the talk of the Twitter files supposedly (but not actually) revealing that Twitter was actively colluding with Democrats to censor conservatives (note: this did not actually happen), it's interesting to see that none of the Twitter Files discuss the now revealed point that Republicans regularly demanded Twitter remove tweets: https://www.techdirt.com/2023/02/09/somehow-missing-from-the-official-twitter-files-twitter-had-to-continually-respond-to-trumps-gop-officials-demands-for-taking-down-tweets/

I just wrote a short piece over on post.news about how the h-index rose to prominence because it was a clever UI hack—and now that the UI hack is no longer needed, it may seem like a curious choice of bibliometric measure.
Here's the link if you want to read it there.

I'll serialize here as well, below.
Why are they charging so much for the drug? According to the developers:
“When it comes to the very high unmet need and the gravity of the disease, there has been recommendations for the use of a higher willingness-to-pay threshold. And definitely this is the case for Alzheimer’s disease.”
Because they can.
