Hey all,

I hate asking for anyone to boost any of my posts, but this is an exception. I want the biggest sample size I can get, and it's a niche request, so I need some help with reach.

I want to recommend a book to a couple parents I know, but wanted some feedback on which one first.

This is for the parents of a teen with ADHD. The teen's father is more authoritarian, while the mother's parenting style is more collaborative.

The two options I think would benefit them most are:

"How To Talk So Kids Will Listen & How To Listen So Kids Will Talk" by Adele Faber & Elaine Mazlish

"The Explosive Child" by Ross Greene

I think both options are great books, but I also have a pretty limited expertise here (outside of my own experience and reading).

When creating a new account we show a list of ~40 suggested follows (should be the same as explore -> for you on the web client). I'm debating just auto-selecting them (possibly with a “skip" button).

I don't want to be accused of forcing people to follow other users, but the first launch experience when not following anyone is pretty terrible.

My guess is that most will tap continue without even reading anything. So it's an auto-follow but for a good purpose...

A thing about Mastodon that I didn't realize I'd missed from pre-algorithm Twitter is the sheer randomness of the content. No longer honed to be hyper-engaging (usually by being scary or enraging) I now see weird experiments, fun scientific papers, random shitposts. Of course it's not all exactly in my wheelhouse, but that makes it simultaneously more *interesting* while being less *addictive*. The whole experience feels a lot healthier for my brain.

It is time.
