Why do public OpenNIC DNS servers refuse to resolve cyrillic domain names? срёт.онлайн for example yields NXDOMAIN from at least a dozen of servers provided in servers.opennic.org/

@Revertron @L29Ah Basically that, that's just old BIND servers all over the place.

i don't remember the exact rfc number though, don't ask

@L29Ah @rf @ru As they "extend" (hum hum...) the IANA root zone, and contrary to their documentation telling they publish "ICANN" TLDs, I suspect they just forgot to sync their list of IANA TLDs "recently", or just decided arbitrarily to drop some, maybe all IDNs? Interesting observation anyway, showing the perils of using "alternate roots".
