It's a division, not hypocrisy. Some gun nuts think everyone should have a gun all the time, others (the NOISY ones) think they should be in the hands of authority figures (which sometimes includes themselves, since they're cops or military etc).

*Politicians* are hypocritical on this issue, because they're pandering to both groups simultaneously.
