@taz Seems unlikely. "Blue collar" implies a common job that can be done by anyone.
We're already fast-approaching the point where coding jobs that meet those requirements can be completed by AI (and, arguably, AI can already do it better than the lowest rung of current software developers).

The blue collar job of the future, imo, will be making informed decisions for mostly automated systems, on the occasions when they run into input anomalies.

@taz Right. My point is that will be able to automate that away by filling those recipes with medium-quality code for a cheaper price.

I don't think is any more immune to of the workforce than any other industry.

@taz I wouldn't be so sure. Have you tried ? It's pretty striking how much code is just simple patterns being slightly adapted. And if there's one thing AI is good at, it's pattern recognition.

@LouisIngenthron @taz This was an interesting thread. I lean toward @LouisIngenthron's viewpoint from my own observations. The future gets here much quicker than anyone seems to realize. Oh look it's here.

@taz Of course it's derivative... But so are most low-level coding jobs. There's a reason the Stack Overflow Ctrl-V peripheral exists.
