✍️If ✍️ the ✍️ government ✍️ is ✍️ not ✍️ involved, ✍️ the ✍️ First ✍️ Amendment ✍️ does ✍️ not ✍️ apply
Understand what the #FirstAmendment does – and doesn’t – protect:
@TheConversationUS #AlwaysPunchNazis Americans need to step up our offense and start making it hurt to hate.
@TheStormcrow @TheConversationUS Sure. Just as long as we use social cues and pressure instead of government force.
@LouisIngenthron @TheConversationUS I hire & pay my government to intervene when Americans are under attack by. Appeasement didn't work with the first nazis.
@TheStormcrow @TheConversationUS When they commit violence, yes.
But if you seek to use the force of the government to punish speech you disagree with (i.e. "making it hurt to hate"), then you're just giving them exactly what they want. Those are the exact tools fascists use to rise to power.
@TheStormcrow @TheConversationUS I don't wish suffering on people who disagree with me.
That you do means you probably have more in common with your opponents than you realize.
Try empathy and understanding instead of hate.
@TheStormcrow @TheConversationUS Please work on your reading comprehension. Nobody in this thread said Nazis weren't bad. Now you're just making shit up to justify your priors.
@LouisIngenthron @TheConversationUS And then you can have a block, for aiding the attacks on Americans like me. Shame on you.
@TheStormcrow @TheConversationUS Have fun giving the Nazis everything they ask for in the guise of opposing them!
@LouisIngenthron @TheConversationUS Try empathy and understanding, instead of privilege. Let me repeat, in case Lady Karma didn't hear me the first time. May you experience what millions of Americans experience under the maga/gop reich, until you understand why nazis are bad for everyone.
