I made the transition to #Mastodon the day Elon closed his deal. Looking back, the difference is surreal.
On Twitter, my feed was full of political trolls pushing my buttons and pissing me off and making me question my faith in humanity.
On Mastodon, I get to read opinions from many of the same people I respected over there... but also I get brief, random windows into subcommunities like #Mosstodon, which is a delightful group of nature weirdoes and scientists posting pictures of moss they see out in the wild. It's so wholesome and positive that it restores my faith in humanity.
@LouisIngenthron So much this. Every few weeks, I Go Back to Twitter just to have a look. It takes minutes to find myself in a loop of doomscrolling hattest, lies and propaganda. Conpletely unhealthy.
@LouisIngenthron I totally agree.
@haberdasher And you're not a man at all if such things bother you so. Go check your own frail ego instead of projecting it on me.
@LouisIngenthron
I also quit X on the day Elmo clinched his deal because I literally wouldn't give him one cent!
I can't stand him.
@LouisIngenthron it was the best decision regarding social media and online communities I ever made
