Just being honest, I would much prefer to run against Trump instead of DeSantis for 2024. We have a much better chance of beating Trump.

But, my commitment to the rule of law goes beyond what’s best for my party.

I wish Republicans had that same integrity.

@briannawu DeSantis is more organized in his evil, but Trump is more charismatic. I am not convinced that DeSantis has much appeal outside of the South but, then, Nixon won, so who knows?

Who votes for mobsters? Who votes for torturers? But apparently the answer is quite a few people.

@ravenonthill @briannawu I can tell you right now that his legend has spread across the nation in the Republican party.

And I say "his legend" for a reason. None of the facts have propagated. They don't know anything he's actually done. They just know him as a "fighter for conservatism" who pisses off libs and isn't quite as much of a screw-up as Trump, and that's enough for them.

@LouisIngenthron @ravenonthill @briannawu
I think that conservative media has raised up a cohort of people who “can’t vote for a democrat,” and, because this is a core value, they are willing to accept any excuse to overlook the failings of the republican candidate. There are multiple gerrymandered red districts that have elected convicted criminals over the democrats.
It’s going to be pretty hard to fix this

@CDunnPasadena @ravenonthill @briannawu Both sides have their fair share of voters who won't ever vote for the other side. It's much more about heritage than media. You won't ever convince them to vote for the other side, but you can sometimes convince them to stay home.
