@godotengine The problem is, while it may seem that adding Discord is only an addition to the community, that's deceptive. It actually incentivizes the community to move to the ephemeral option for faster support.

Even users who would prefer the forum end up using the Discord because that's where the fastest help from experts is.

In doing so, the entire community loses from making the institutional knowledge created by such troubleshooting sessions temporary and unsearchable.

@LouisIngenthron @godotengine Doing this also puts information at risk because despite the misleading "server" terminology, you have no actual control over a Discord. It's proprietary, centralized tech that could disappear or enshittify at any time, and you can't rely on people to preserve the important bits elsewhere. It's very much at odds with an open source philosophy.
