@shaulawalko Democrats already are unified. We'll vote for whoever is on the ticket, even if it's a ham sandwich, to defeat Trump.

But Biden is too old and his campaign is too out-of-touch to win again. He needs to pass the torch to someone who is physically capable of energizing the swing voters we need to defeat Trump in November.

@LouisIngenthron @shaulawalko Yes you did. You said Biden should "pass the torch" and nobody--absolutely NOBODY--voted for THAT.

@claralistensprechen3rd @shaulawalko So if he ends up in a coma, we should just keep blindly lining up behind him because that's what people in primaries voted for months ago?

@LouisIngenthron @shaulawalko ...and now you just said that Kamala Harris is chopped liver. You don't even know how the presidency is supposed to work and you don't think anybody voted for Harris when they voted for Biden.

Take a reallllly wild guess what the Vice President is for, besides presiding over the Senate.

@claralistensprechen3rd @shaulawalko Lol, then your entire argument pretty much falls apart here when you find out that Harris is exactly who I think Biden should be passing the torch to, huh? 😄

@LouisIngenthron @shaulawalko That's precisely the person that makes you look like you don't know how the presidency works. A vote for Biden is a vote for Harris, and the primary voters have spoken. You and the anti-Biden Dems just haven't been listening and, further, think that overriding the voice of the people is any kind of good idea when it makes you look just as much a dictator as Trump looks.

@claralistensprechen3rd @shaulawalko FFS, if you're going to make ridiculous hyperbolic claims, at least try to keep them consistent.

Your condescending, combative, ad hominem, exaggerating, purity-testing bullshit would be bad enough if it were directed to the correct target, but I'm your ally, dumbass. In this thread, you've exemplified everything that's wrong with the modern left.

@LouisIngenthron @shaulawalko In other words, you have no defense for what's indefensible so now you have to resort to personal insults with no basis in fact. You got nothin'.

@claralistensprechen3rd If this is how you argue, then please argue for the Republicans, because your technique does far more harm than good.

Goodbye.

@LouisIngenthron

Yes, that is the argument of those concerned about the swing voters and the double doubters. The other side of the argument is concerned that the process of having electors choose a replacement in August will create chaos and that the new candidate will have to start from scratch with funding and policy accomplishments. They also remember what happened when LBJ dropped out (we got Nixon, which may have happened either way but we’ll never know). I don’t know whether or not the swing voters and double doubters will unify around any democratic candidate, so there’s also that to consider.

@LouisIngenthron @shaulawalko The "double-doubters" doubt the Dems harder now that the anti-Biden faction is taking a wrecking ball to the party. Dictators on the right, primary nullifying dictators on the left, and no real place to go.

@claralistensprechen3rd @LouisIngenthron

Agreed, the chaos is responsible for some of the double doubters and that frustrates me. I see it a little differently after hearing Biden say that even the intra-party chaos is part of democracy, but it does still frustrate me. I hope the Dems will all unify soon, like yesterday.

@LouisIngenthron @shaulawalko I don't blame you one bit.
The time to choose the leader of the party is long behind us and Biden is the chosen leader of the party and the backup has also already been voted on. It's Harris. For all the fuss about claiming that Harris needs to be positioned at the top of the ticket by declaration totally ignores the fact that she's already been voted on for the next in line for that position.

At this point it's voters versus fiat elite dictators, and the voters have spoken for Harris already. Harris is already a done deal, but you gotta stick with Biden ticket to stick with what the voters called for.
