Not for those who are sure Biden should stay in
@starlily @heidilifeldman "Chosen"? I got my primary ballot yesterday. The choice of president isn't even on it.
I want a say in who should be the candidate too.

@bhawthorne At the top, it says:
Official Primary Election Ballot
August 20, 2024
Democratic Party
[X] County, Florida
I did not receive a primary ballot in March.
According to this local newspaper, our party cancelled our Primary and just slapped Joe on the ticket:
"The Florida Democratic Party opted to put only President Joe Biden’s name on the 2024 primary ballot, effectively — and somewhat controversially — canceling the party’s primary."

@LouisIngenthron Looking at that Florida Department of State website I linked to, it looks like the Presidential Preference Primary was March 19, the Primary Election for all other offices is August 20, and of course the General Election is November 5.
See https://dos.fl.gov/elections/for-voters/presidential-election-year/ for more information on the process.
“2024 Presidential Preference Primary Ballot Certification (Please note that since the Florida Democratic Party only provided the name of one candidate nominee, there will be no PPP ballot/election. There will only be a PPP ballot/election for the Republican Party of Florida in March.)”
“What is the process to qualify as a presidential candidate for a major political party?
“The process to qualify as a presidential candidate involves several steps. First, the candidate’s name must be nominated (i.e., be on a list submitted) by the major political party. The deadline for the major political parties to submit this list is November 30 of the year preceding the presidential election year. Candidate nominees have until the second Tuesday in December to formally withdraw in writing.
“The names of the candidate nominees are then placed on the ballot for the Presidential Preference Primary Election. Candidate nominees who actually or reportedly suspend or withdraw from campaigning after the December deadline must still have their names placed on the ballot.
“If a major political party only provides the name of one presidential candidate nominee, the nominee is deemed the preferred presidential candidate for that party. There is no PPP ballot or PPP election to be conducted for that party.”

@LouisIngenthron I don’t know what ballot you “just got,” because the Florida presidential preference primary was held on March 19. https://dos.fl.gov/elections/for-voters/election-dates/
