The unfortunate reality is that a truthful Democratic campaign for the presidency can only really run on the promise of not making things worse.

The fate of student loan forgiveness will be the fate of any major left-ish political project.

Don’t get me wrong, I happen to think not making things worse is second among outcomes only to making things better — but we should recognize this.

A second Trump term will further concretize existing barriers to progress, and erect new ones.

@andrew Idk about that... Just by defeating Trump for a second time, it puts Trump's entire movement in jeopardy. There would be mass infighting in the GOP over whether the twice-loser Trump faction can maintain control, the old guard takes back control, or some new group takes advantage of the chaos.

Either way, it would make for some interesting midterms that could lead to radical reform in the back half of the first term.
