@catherinebkrause@deadinsi.de The Salvation Army is a great ministry. They may not be as great now as they once was (the beginning of it was an impressive story), but they are still serving God well in many ways. Just one cause they don't support people who go against God's design, doesn't mean they are bad in any way.

@lukespacewalker@mstdn.io anywhere other than Amazon?

I have been completely removed from Facebook for a full year. It has been the best year in recent memory. OBSERVATIONS:

1) I'm still "connected" to current events. I'm just not bombarded with a thousand "rage-bait" rants about it.

2) I'm still connected with everyone that matters. We've shared the responsibility of staying in touch. Sometimes it's on me to reach out, sometimes it's on them. The people who haven't kept up with me, were just a relationship of ceremony and convenience.

3) I'm substantially less depressed. Surprising no one, I guess. It didn't cure depression, but it alleviated that which it brought: A lot.

4) I'm still super social online. I have community here and a few other places. We do things together, and don't just try to whip ourselves into a fury.

5) I've gained a meaningful perspective: *MY* perspective. Getting away from the manipulative pieces of those social media sites has given me enough clarity to be, well... "me."

YMMV

Upgrading to 4.20 on Antergos. I hear there is a speed hit...

@vicorva Eh. I think it is pretty bad. It is a solid piece of hardware, don't get me wong. But the software by Amazon is trash.

How apps on Android share data with Facebook...

At least 61 % of apps automatically transfer data to Facebook the moment people open the app, whether they have a Facebook account or not, or whether they are logged into Facebook or not.

> 46. Nepal became the 54th country in the world, and the first country in South Asia, to pass a law banning corporal punishment for children. End Corporal Punishment

That's not exactly a positive.

@kungtotte Yeah. My Bible app is distributed in one way as an AppImage, and it is around 150MB.

@kungtotte I know that it isolated dependencies to some extent. Someone was complaining that a snap package for a calculator app was a few hundred megabytes. These containers increase security and decrease it's reliance on external dependancies, which makes it more portable.
