Wanted to share shout outs today to a few amazing illustrators I've been lucky enough to work with at LJI:

Ann Kiernan: annkiernan.com/ A painter with a captivating sense of color and movement in her pieces

Patricia Pauchnick: patriciapauchnick.com/ Her ink, paint, linocut, and embroidered pieces highlight beauty in the natural world

Liz Hui: instagram.com/lizhui_drawss/ Her muted illustrations of animals and plants look like they could be out of vintage textbooks—but they also have a slight fantasy feel.

I spend a lot of time writing about how really works behind the scenes. Today I wanted to highlight a few short pieces that I like to read for inspiration (and keep in a bookmarked folder!)

For your inspiration : )

A wonderful mix of science and emotion - From Voice of San Diego: bit.ly/3G8wKmn

A short and sweet scientist profile - From Dartmouth Magazine: bit.ly/3DZuV8C

A look inside the battle behind the immune system and - from Magazine: bit.ly/3G6l8jQ (because who said science writing and creative writing don't mix?)

Do you have any favorite pieces of ? I want to read them!

Awesome to see the posts on here! Any other writers making their way to Mastodon—or other members of the National Association of Science Writers?

@Rahimilab Barrier surfaces are the most fascinating interfaces! Awesome to see more immunologists on this site!

Great paper by the Locksley lab on the role of skin ILC2s in promoting cutaneous integrity and preventing pathologic infestation by colonizing hair follicle mites. #immunology

I should also add that I manager the LJI twitter account (@ljiresearch) one reason I want to check out Mastodon is to see how best to connect with scientists and science journalists now that twitter has changed hands.
