Not every flight goes to plan, and today that's how it went. 7.5 out of 9 were successful. The half a point was for a cluster rocket that didn't fully light off the rail (3 out of 4), but was still recovered.
Three pics. The smashed one is the newest version of a BT60 Goblin. Again the chute release pin didn't let go despite several successful tests with the small chute bundle. It made it to 2878' on an Aerotech F67C motor.
The black sleek one is an upscale Estes Ninja, 2.5" diameter. Flew on an Aerotech F40W. Perfect flight to 1500'.
The skyracha rocket, a 4" upscale Big Daddy, flew great on a H130W to 1354'
NEWS RELEASE: Big win! We stopped a phosphate mine in Idaho, which is a key ingredient for RoundUp. Plants and animals everywhere are breathing a little easier today knowing that Bayer AG just had a big glitch in its global supply chain. (And #SageGrouse whose homes won't be trashed are probably delighted as well.)
Trying not to have covid anxiety 24/7 but it’s not working out. Went to a small art gallery party & one of the artists asked me if I wanted to join for dinner. I sat at the remaining seat & took a few bites & the girl sitting next to me finishes eating & puts on a mask. Her friends ask why she’s putting on a mask now (when she hadn’t the whole party) & she says she’s asymptomatic but still positive. I get the f*%k outta there immediately. I think I’m done with people. All people. Just done.
Question for the expert @carlysagan : Is the number of people and their bikes the standard way of measuring vehicle capacity at Burning Man? 😀

Thinking about this tonight: are humans the only species that doesn’t give back to the planet?
“We don’t give anything to any other form of life on the planet whatsoever. And in that way, we are genuinely unique. Go ahead and try and think of a lifeform that gives nothing back — whose bioproductivity is nothing. I don’t think there is one.” https://eand.co/why-the-economics-of-our-civilization-point-to-collapse-42858e395192
The road next to Carbfix has hit the boiling point - 100 degrees C (212 F). Wtaf are we doing?! Bc people with no scientific literacy (or no common sense?) get VC capital to stuff CO2 under volcanoes, we’re making roads literally boil. https://www.ruv.is/frettir/innlent/2023-05-12-allt-ad-100-gradu-hiti-maelist-vid-veginn
@carlysagan And this is just with the miniscule amount of CO2 they're processing.......
Printed an Oriole feeder today, since they're back.

Hopefully the #USFWS will stop dithering, and protect the #BiStateSageGrouse this time. This merry-go-round of agency failures and court smackdowns is not helping the birds.
“Maybe the third time will be the charm for getting this population segment the protection it so clearly deserves,” said Laura Cunningham, California director of the Western Watersheds Project.“None of the science shows that the bi-state birds have benefited from the service’s dithering."
