Ginger Bug started. Fingers crossed it works, will top it up over the next 3-4 days and hopefully we get some bubbles.

Bubbles! Had to do a second try as my tap water has chlorine in it and that kills the fermentation process. Bottled water seems to work way better.

@otherdog Your chlorine will gas off if you let it sit...or if you aerate the water before fermentation....

@MessengerFlats Ah ty, I’ll remember that advice. Yeah I did let it sit for 4 days but no luck, maybe lid was on too tight or the ginger itself wasn’t taking. Tried another ginger batch and some bottled water and this seems to be up and rocking straight away. Excited!

Just reread this. If it was lidded, it probably maintained the partial pressure of chlorine over the water column....Open cover or aeration.....Best of luck!
