If you download your Twitter archive it arrives wrapped as a static HTML page, which is not very useful for doing anything with, and worse: it requires the original account to be still active to do useful things like enlarge the images since they use t.co links.
So here's a Python script to convert a Twitter archive to markdown or other formats: https://github.com/timhutton/twitter-archive-parser
Now you can archive your tweets in any way you want.

@alan Much easier to find the , too!
this is what Ontario residents receive for failing to vote in provincial elections.
Many journalists called this a 4-6 years ago, when media units covering provincial politics were discontinued.
So the most powerful level of government in the Canadian system gets almost no attention.
Municipal govt. is created and regulated by the province, so it can do what it wants. And Ford wants to discontinue its ability to impede property speculation.
@vickyveritas Wow, stunning.
I HAD to bring this gorgeous Norwegian #rock face with me from the bird site :)
This rock face was likely #gneiss, a foliated #metamorphic rock where light minerals and dark minerals form in alternating bands due to high heat and pressure. This rock was further complexly folded and refolded during continental collisions and mountain building.
The rock face also has an unusual & beautiful texture caused by the more erodible bands partially eroding.

@mycle I wonder if the RCMP have his pic up on the wall as one of their founding inspirations. "Don't get uppity, we'll invent a police force to squash you..."
I'll get used to it, but it's depressing how the colour has just completely disappeared from the environment. Just a month ago I was raving about the explosion of fall colours...
@fulkery1 EVERYBODY. It was a little bit frightening.
@RussInCheshire @mcochrane_13 Nice! Newton would be proud. Actually, he’d have some questions about the phone
The video loaded slowly for me, so I stitched together a pic.
@RussInCheshire Did you know you can make a rainbow on your wall by shining your mobile flashlight (with a diy slit disc) through a red wine glass filled with water? #scienceteacher
ALT: a 6 sec video scanning from bottom to top showing a mobile phone with light on shining up through a water filled wine glass to a small rainbow projected on a nearby wall.
The right mask makes it easy to teach, perform, or speak in public.
Open tunings make it easy to play guitar with just one finger, like I am here - it helps if you change the song a bit!
Apparently Joni Mitchell used lots of open tunings to compensate for weakness in her hand due to polio.

@carolski I *love* those moments (really miss them now that I’m retired!). Other faves: Why the sky is blue and sunsets are red; how soap works. The latter was just a 10-minute aside in one class that I had forgotten about, but at the end of the year about a dozen of my students mentioned it in the “one cool thing you learned this year” section of my feedback form
Science teachers wanted!

Retired Chem/Physics/Earth Sciences teacher. I'm interested in everything.
I like a good debate that introduces me to other perspectives. I don't waste much time with people who devolve to name-calling or insults, aside to call them out on it.
I think society performs at its best when we take care of others, especially the weakest among us. That means a strong social safety net, with "free" healthcare, education, and public transit. It's a dream, I know.
30+ years of explaining stuff to teenagers has left me with some habits... I'm not a mansplainer, but I *do* like to find ways to 'splain stuff to receptive ears
I like dogs, cats, and astronomy pictures with a bias towards the shorter wavelengths (kinda leaves out all those lovely Hα pics ).
The first thing I look at when shopping for cars is headroom/legroom. Saves a lot of time.
