There is a workshop at the Fields Institute right now. I estimate maybe 15% of people attending are masking. Appeals by CMOH for voluntary masking absolutely don't register (most people aren't even aware of them).
This isn't surprising in the least. Outsourcing public health policy to individual choices by people never worked and never will. Moore knows this but chooses to do nothing.

Is #MineralMonday a thing on here? If not can we make it a thing please 😅 here’s some gorgeous Mexican crazy lace agate to brighten your day! Agate is a type of fibrous microcrystalline silica (quartz) known as chalcedony 🖤 #geology
Never forget, a 13-year study of a dozen cities found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for ALL ROAD USERS. And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all. As for sharrows, it’s safer to NOT have them. Via #StreetsblogUSA, read their article. #bikelanes #bikes #cities #transportation #mobility #sharrows #infrastructure #urbanplanning

To this extent I'm really interested to know how the age breakdown of people on the #Fediverse. On one hand it would seem to make sense to me that most people here remember the "old internet" before the centralization and they're here to rekindle that flame of independence. On the other hand the youths are generally pretty up on this whole technology thing. I grew up on the internet and since then smartphones have become even more ubiquitous.

So, uh, anyone know how to _stop_ following a hashtag? Or even see a list of which ones you're following?

Do you want to avoid seeing the same boosts again and again and again in Mastodon?
Then (if you're comfortable using Github) go to this issue and give it a thumbs up, to let the developers know you feel this way:
https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/18693
At the moment Mastodon is hardcoded to show boosts again if there have been just 40 other posts since the last time. This is way too low for many people, they may reach this limit very quickly, and it would (IMHO) make more sense to let users set it by time.
For example, it would be nice if users could say "Don't show the same boost again within 48 hours/7 days/Ever" (where the "Ever" option would prevent the same boost ever being visible again).

I like a good debate that introduces me to other perspectives. I don't waste much time with people who devolve to name-calling or insults, aside to call them out on it.
I think society performs at its best when we take care of others, especially the weakest among us. That means a strong social safety net, with "free" healthcare, education, and public transit. It's a dream, I know.
30+ years of explaining stuff to teenagers has left me with some habits... I'm not a mansplainer, but I *do* like to find ways to 'splain stuff to receptive ears 😊
I like dogs, cats, and astronomy pictures with a bias towards the shorter wavelengths (kinda leaves out all those lovely Hα pics 😄).
