If you're getting a manuscript final ready for the end of the year, my advice is: don't submit it to a journal now, it will only create frustration as editors and reviewers take holidays while journals are submerged with "managed to finish in 2022" manuscripts. Rather, preprint it now, and submit mid January, with the benefit of feedback and time to think, and editors and reviewers now slightly more available. #preprint #protip
#IDMastodon Nasal flu vaccine may help reduce cases of group A strep
Analysis by @UKHSA suggests a nasal spray vaccine that offers protection to children against flu may also help reduce the rate of group A strep infections.

New #instance , new #introduction !
I am a neuroscientist based in sunny Marseille (France).
After a PhD in NYC in the lab of JL Pena, and a postdoc with Zach Mainen and the #InternationalBrainLab, I recently joined the #CNRS as a tenured researcher.
My work combines #experimental and #computational approaches to study the neural dynamics of flexible behavior in mice. My research is supported by the Simons Collaboration on the Global Brain (#SCGB).
Here is my first attempt of a thread, presenting our latest work on the #genetics of neonatal jaundice, a project co-lead with Julius Juodakis, and a roller coaster of unexpected findings!

Hi #ScienceMastodon. We, at #J_Cell_Sci, are a #community journal covering all areas of #cellbiology. We also host the microscopy community site @focalplane_jcs. Journal of Cell Science is led by Editor-in-Chief Michael Way & published by the not-for-profit @Co_Biologists.
We will toot about our content, including #research papers, #reviews, #interviews, charitable activities, and news from @focalplane_jcs.

Hey there! I'm an Assistant Professor at #UCLA studying mouse and human #innateimmunity using #systemsimmunology and #crispr to find new targets for chronic viral infections, #T2D and #cancer. I mainly focus on #type1 immune responses including #NKcells #cDC1 and #ILC1. I started #earlycareerimmunology in 2021 to highlight underrepresented scientists early in their career. I'm here to post about #science, #art, #travel, #cat photos, and congratulate you on your wins 🥳🎉.
PRPF31 #RetinitisPigmentosa is a #retinal disease caused by haploinsufficiency. #PRPF31 mutations are also homozygous lethal, which makes creating an animal model challenging. We tackled this problem by knocking out PRPF31 using a #CRISPR construct in adults using #AAV – and then showed that #GeneTherapy could prevent retinal degeneration in vivo. Out now in #NatureCommunications.

Happy to block on Mastodon someone who accuses scientists for causing the pandemic, with no evidence or rationale whatsoever.
And happy to stay on Mastodon as their account is not amplified. #Science #twittermigration #CovidOrigin #disinformation
