I hate it when you're doing an external faculty review, and they ask you to list a bunch of the candidate's peers and *rank them* in relation to one another. What a stupid, competitive way of thinking about value. Instead, I describe the unique mix of skills and sensibilities that make the candidate *incomparable*.
